Associate Director of Programs, Climate and Land Use Alliance
Christina McCain is the Associate Director of Programs for the Climate and Land Use Alliance. Christina has focused her twenty-year career on the conservation of tropical forests and more than a decade on advocacy around climate change at the international, national, and state levels.
Before joining CLUA, Christina was the Director for Latin America in the Global Climate Program at Environmental Defense Fund, where she worked on policy at the intersection of climate change, tropical forests, and emissions trading from 2009-2019 and founded EDF’s work on climate change policy in Mexico. Christina has deep experience leading efforts to shape climate and forest policy with a diverse set of actors, from local and national policymakers in the United States and internationally, to environmental and indigenous organizations. She previously served as a foreign affairs officer at the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of Oceans, Environment and Science working on issues related to scientific cooperation, environment and trade.
Christina holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Miami, where she studied the ecological effects of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon. She earned a B.S. in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology from the University of Texas at Austin.
